Left Camp this morning at 6 Rebls Left the Gap last night Health good. after noon We passed Over The River & Engaged the Rebls. Had a very Severe fight lasting four or five houres We lost heavily Our Co. lost killed S. J. Hayes Wounded Samuel McElroy We had to fall back it was a great Battle I was favored in not being

hurt in any way
