116th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Field Officers and Regimental Staff.

Col. James Washburn commanded the regiment until he was seriously wounded and incapacitated in the Battle of Cool Spring, September 18, 1864. The regimental command then passed to Col. Thomas Wildes. When Col. Wildes was promoted to command the brigade on October 14, 1864, Capt. (later Col.) Wilbert Teters was promoted from a company commander to command the regiment for the remainder of the war. Pvt. I. N. Webster became Col. Wildes' orderly, and thus was present in regimental, and later brigade headquarters, after Col. Wildes' assumption of regimental command.
